風琴聲響起，前奏過後，一個身裁健碩的女士開口唱著一首Benny很喜歡的歌曲《Trouble of the world》，很久以前他已經說過要請人在他自己的葬禮上獻唱，今天他終於得嘗所願，Mrs. Hale特別請了教會詩歌班的領唱人到來。她的歌唱響亮，不溫婉不陰柔，散發著一種堅定的感覺，不高昂不賣弄，自是有種繞樑三日的裊裊餘音，歌辭不多也不複雜，卻令在場的人被傷感的氣氛感染到，紛紛靜悄悄的用紙巾印著兩腮。

Mrs. Hale以遺孀的身份朗讀了一首詩，那叫Funeral Blues（葬禮的藍調），作者是W.H. Auden，在電影《四個婚禮一個葬禮》被引用過，因此很為人熟悉，以前Mrs. Hale跟Benny在一個春暖花開的下午曾一起觀看這一部電影，那時兩人已經深深喜歡了這一首情詩，可是這首詩有一個缺點，那就是如果你在正式場合讀出來，表示你已經永遠失去你的愛人，兩個相愛的人想也不會希望有用得著它的時候。Mrs. Hale以溫柔的聲調讀出這首詩，它代表了她此時此刻的心情，幽幽的訴說著她對逝去愛人的緬懷。
